I was thinking of converting the Duster to an Electric Ignition and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this kit or had any recommendations for a different kit.

It looks alot like a Pertronix(which work well), but as most people on this forum will recommend going to HEI.

Pertronix works OK for a plug and play, but the nature of the inner mechanicals of the 1960-1971 points distributor are not as nice to 'dial' in a recurve if wanting to get the most out of your car's ignition, that the primary reason to use a 1973-1980 mopar EI distributor and some new wiring to make the conversion...if you have a junkyard nearby with some old mopars with slants be on the look out for the late-70's volares and aspens that will have one of the better stock cores (tag # 3874876)....

Good luck,

That looks like a more expensive knock-off of a Pertronix ignition kit. http://www.jegs.com/i/Pertronix/751/1361A/10002/-1
I've been running Pertronix for several years now. I like them for the simplicity. A home made HEI is probably better, but has more parts.

Thanks for the replies and links.

I've read through that HEI post several times and I'm having a hard time understanding it all. Most of those parts I need to go to junkyards to get? Also, because of my lack of experience, should I still attempt the HEI conversion or just stick with the (much) simpler Pertronix kit?

I would never recommend a Cardone reman dizzy unless it was the last option...you get an unknown distributor that cannot be set to most recommendations noted on the board (and may not even be right to the vehicle/combination it's put into), condemning the user to map it with a timing light and hand vacuum pump to determine if they have a good one (late core), or an early one (1973-1975 core)...also they do not come with lube (oil or grease inside), so right off the bat on a highway run you are tanking the bushings on a dry shaft...

2 cents...
