Hey guys, I haven't found what the heck these boxes are that are mounted on the firewall of my 75 Duster. The car has A/C/automatic.

I need to mount an aftermarket Ignition box where these babies are located and would rather remove them for the time being instead of drill more holes to remount them.

What are they? Link to album:

Thanks

Looks like a voltage regulator to me, but I may be out of my depth on this one.

Close but a little off there... the mopar ER has a triangular plug and a metal prong to hold it to the module...These are electronic timer modules, not sure why 2 are present, on post 1975 cars you usually only find one as an EGR Delay timer...

Are you sure it is a 75 car? If it were a 74 one of those could be part of the notorious seat belt interlock system.

Got a quick note from Dan on the two boxes...

They are part of the emission control system:

3874200: Catalytic converter protection system switch
3874300: EGR delay timer

Does Washington have a cutoff date for maintaining emission systems? Washingtonians - anyone know?
You could check with your Dept of Motor Vehicles or an inspection station.

Depends on the county. King and parts of Pierce counties stop emissions testing after 25 years. Other counties have no emissions testing. The rub is that it is a violation of Federal law to modify or remove any emissions system. Will you get caught? Who knows. Will it hurt if you are? Maybe.

From this site: http://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistrati ... sions.html

Who needs to have their vehicle tested?

If you live in the following counties, your vehicle may need to get an emissions test every 2 years:

Clark County
King County
Pierce County
Snohomish County
Spokane County

I'm not in any of those counties. Reed is right, 25 years and older the testing stops. I've seen cars around here that burn wet leaves.... :-\. Still doesn't exempt from the federal law, however.
