Hey Mr. E,
That 10" X10" dimension is about the size of the "deep" part of Lorrie's Oil Pan.

The reason I asked is because between the "Add A Quart" mark and the "Full" mark on Lorrie Dip Stick is 9/16", and the volume that it would go into is about 10" X 10" square.

Am going to get another quart of 10W30 Valvoline which will bring the Oil Level up to the "Full" mark.

That will be eight quarts of oil in Lorrie's mighty 225 Slant Six Engine!

GOOD information. Have never had the occasion to wonder about that till now.

So at four quarts per gallon, and there are eight quarts of Oil in Lorrie's Oil Pan. The Oil Pan apparently has a capacity of two gallons (462 cubic inches) of Oil.

Thanks for doing the calculations.

BTW, while doing research on this Oil Pan Capacity issue, came across the information that says the 225 Slant Six Truck Crankshaft is shot-peened, making it desirable for heavy duty applications.

Anyway, weather here is warming up. Will be approaching 70 degrees tomorrow. Supposed to get down into the low 40s tonight and tomorrow morning.

It has been a good day here.

Hope you are well.

JC

Hey Mr. H,
So you are right in the middle of the "Big Freeze" up there.

Well, Lorrie and I have to go do some grocery shopping, and other errands today. Will see how she does. She seems to be doing really well so far. Need to take her to the Tire shop and have them check the pressure in her tires. Noticed that the right front is kind of bulging at the bottom and that she is really hard to steer when not moving. Also, removed the Steering Wheel to work on the Dash Panel and when the Steering Wheel got put back on, it didn't get put back to where the Spokes are level when driving straight ahead. Will change that up today. It's a five minute task.

Anyway will keep you all updated.

So far, so good.

JC

Hey Mr. W,
Sure!

After having gotten Lorrie all back up and serviceable, have gotten back into the swing of things with working on the vehicles to the point where I'm a bit more confident that I can STILL do stuff, even though I just turned seventy-five years old, and so have decided that I'm going to tackle the rebuilding of Ms. American 3.14159's Front Suspension.

In case you don't know, Ms. American is the ONLY 1964 Ford Galaxie 500, Four-Door, Hard-Top, Fast-Back, Police Interceptor that Google finds on the whole World Wide Web. She is less than 2,000 miles away from having 300,000 miles on her Odometer and is in dire need of a Front Suspension Rebuild. What with Spring just around the corner, this seems to be the time to start doing THAT.

Anyway, I see that this thread has been moved from the "Engine" threads to the "Slixter" threads with no notice of to where it has been moved. That seems to me to be quite odd. Makes me want to go "Hmmmmm!"

JC

The topic was left in the engine section, and could be linked to the moved thread by clicking on that heading.

Hey Charrlie,
Earlier this morning when posted the JPGs of Lorrie, the "Topic" wasn't in the Engine Section. I found it in the Slixer Section by doing a search for the Thread Title.

It's alright. No harm done. :)

There was a link (I saw it)

I think the forum automatically deletes the links after a couple of days (not sure why)

I put the link back in the engine section. I had intended to leave a shadow, but might have goofed. All fixed, now.

Hey Mr. E,
It just wasn't there this early this morning. But you're right, it's there now.

Well, anyone interested will have already noted that the thread had been moved. It's no big deal. Was just puzzling at the time. :)

Raining and cold here again. DAMN!

JC.

Hey Charrlie_S,
One can't think of EVERYTHING all the time, but it all works out in the end.

Thanks.
