If you have a single-reservoir master cylinder, changing to a split master cylinder is a low-cost improvement. With an old car, you want to be sure of your brake hoses and brake lines, too. Safety first.

Will changing out torsion bars for thicker ones change the ride height of the car? or will it just make the suspension stiffer?

Just make it stiffer. You can set them at any height, but I would go with the FSM for your car to get the tires to wear properly. Don't go with the numbers from a computer alignment rack.......take your FSM with you.

Thanks
So you think that i could just use some torsion bars from a mopar that had a 340 V8 in it?
And do you by any chance know of any cars that came with 15in wheels that have the same bolt pattern as my dodge dart?

The torsion bars have to be from an a-body. I've heard 340 bars are a good place to start, especially for a slant car.

I dont know if traction bars (cal-tracs?) hurt your handling, but here's a cheap design
http://www.hotrodsandhemis.com/traction1.html

Also,I believe 6 leaf springs are the way to go for cheap. I believe 340 darts and dusters came with them. Also there are aftermarket options.

Why would Caltrac possible hurt my handling? That design you sent me seemed very simple and doable.

The bars have to come frim an early A body. Selection will be limited as I am sure they are different than late A body bars.

You really need to make a plan as to what you want to do.

Are you wanting to drag race or go for handling over horsepower? So far you are trying to make a jumble of both, and you will end up disappointed when you're done.

Really? I thought the suspension was pretty much the same 63-76?

I thought the early A bodies were a different length?
