I've heard some people replace the wire retainer for torsion bars with a "real" snap ring. Does anyone know the size of such a snap ring?

thanks all.

Why? I've never - ever heard heard of a torsion bar working loose & popping out of place.

I used expanding snap rings on my car because I didn't want to order the real part and hold up the job. I don't remember what size I used. Be sure to bed each end of the bar in some wheel baring grease when reinstalling the bars.

I was just reading on A-bodies forum that some people where experiencing extra spacing issues with particular LCA bushings, and used some hexagonal shims and mentioned that they also replaced the wire retainer with conventional snap rings. Just curious if anyone knew the right thickness and diameter of the snap ring.
