As long as you're going through the hood, nothing looks better than a Hilborn style scoop on a 60's car...
Just my tuppence

Sweet score, and I think you deserve them! Of course, I'm a sucker for blue 65 Valiants anyway.

Not sure about that, but I'm glad to have them.

I am now starting to wonder how many sets of the exhaust manifolds are really out there? I know there isn't that many.

I have a pile of work to get done just to be ready to race this season, so the intake and hood changes may have to wait just a bit. We will see!

I have to reassemble the rest of the new motor for my race car, install it in the car, move the battery to the trunk, repair the line locks...and 10 other things. Then remove motor and tranny from the Volare I got from Charles Brooks and install them in my truck, along with new exhaust header and 4 barrel set up. Then I will be ready to race this season.

I don't think I will be done till at least the end of March. April is T & T!

Rick, Great find.....right place at the right time...lol

My set of exhaust manifolds don't have the "change A" like yours..........just interesting to note the subtle differences in these considering the number of units made.

Also your intake looks to be a square bore style, or maybe it is just hard to tell in the pic angle.
My intake is a spread bore...my primaries are about 15/16" and the secondaries are 1"..this is just a quick measure with a ruler but I can see the difference in the two sizes in mine.
What size holes are yours?

I got my set not too long ago and look forward to using them just for the sheer uniqueness, I'm not too worried that the intake may not be the ideal manifold design. Mine won't be a daily driver so I can put up with some quirks should there be any. They seemed to work great in the nascar compact car series....what they were designed for!

Well there is good news and good news. The new starter arrived today and it looks to be a great starter if you need the room for headers or in this case a hyperpak exhaust manifold. The starter is super compact and has almost 2" of room around the manifold. You just need to drill out the one threaded hole and it is a bolt in. Nothing against the aftermarket one in the other thread, but I like walking up to the counter and getting something off the shelf. Here are the pics. Thanks to Dan for the heads up on this one!!

The more I look at the pictures I am not sure we saw the same set. Yours look to be in better shape than what I remember.

Hmmm....

Just for full disclosure, I have not tried the starter on the car yet. I will know in a couple weeks when I get the motor back in the car. But at first glance it looks like it should work. I will try and measure the engagement and tooth diameter and count tomorrow.

Greg, I will try and measure weight for you too.

Application I ordered for was a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500, Manual transmission. Advance Auto parts Part # 16054

$102 but $56 core charge. They have 20% off and a $25 gift certificate promotion on your next purchase going on right now.

If I get time in the next couple days I guess I could just take the starter off my truck and mount this one, and then we would know for sure that it does work.

Rick
Dan sent this to me from over on FABO. Look down to post #36. It looks like it should work fine.

I am considering putting something on my Hyperpak intake to protect it a little from grease and oil...etc. Does anyone know of a clear coat spray paint that would work well? I am fine with the natural aluminum color I think. It does not appear that it has ever been installed, so it is not very dirty now.

Rick

Most clears will yellow after a while. Look at spray can Rust-o-leum auto paint that is gasoline resistant. They have several silver colors that look like natural aluminum. On a clean manifold it holds up very well.
Just a thought.

Hang it on the wall a revel in the fact that you own one. You will be happier in the long run.

I had one hanging on the wall for 15 years and got no joy out of it. I will probably use it!
