 :? Im really lost on this. I have a 1967 dart 270, 4dr sedan.
while replacing the 5v limiter, i found a wire (with male blade connector) had detached itself.

im curious if its the dash to engine ground, but, i dont know where that connects to either. On page 137 of the haynes manual i can see a wire that comes from the volt limiter going south and it doesnt show the actual ends.

my fuel/temp gauge still doesnt work and i have verified that these instruments actually work.

any gurus out there that can help me with this? no junkyard donors in my area to examine.

I have a black wire coming from my steering column that isn't connected, but everything's working so I don't care. It's a 90%chance it's a ground but I'll fix it when summer comes. As for your problem, test to make sure it's a ground wire(black and doesn't turn on a tester light). If it's a ground find somewhere to ground it and you might have something work better, if it's a power wire check the number of the wire in the hanes manual your looking at and that number should appear on another page of the hanes wiring manual. I'd help you but my manual is for 70'ish Darts and I think your cars to far back for my wiring manual to work with. Anyway, if you can't figure it out just remember the saying, "If it isn't broke don't fix it". For all you know that wire might go to some under the dash light that hasn't worked for thirty years.

If it has a male terminal, it should attach to a solid-mounted part. I would check the back of the terminal board and see if there is a slot for a chassis ground to plug into.

Mine has a male blade connecter that has a 90* bend that goes into the circut board with the center blade of the voltage limiter. they both go into the same slot on the board the center blade and the male connector.

I forgot to mention the wire is black w/ a white stripe.
Man I wish they could have come up with a way to give less room under the dash

Sounds like you are refering to the wire that comes out of the cap (or condenser if you will) that is attached to the cluster frame, has a 90deg bent spade terminal, and fits into one of the terminals of the voltage regulator. I believe it is the 5v output terminal but not 100% sure.

:D :D :D ok guys, that picture i refered to in the haynes manual, if you have one, shows that wire terminating dead center in the 5v lmtr. still cant see the color, but it metered out to be a power wire. the center blade on limiter makes great sense.

thanks for every one that made input on this. its like i told on another subject, i wish there was this kinda help and support on my other cars.

prishy ate it
