If i wanted to move my shift from the colom to the floor on my 74 duster could i buy the console and then throw in a aftermarket hurst cable shifter? or would i have to search for a nos or used shifter?

if you arent looking for the "stock" appearance, the answer is yes. when buying a shifter remember to tell the retailer that the cable is for your year, make, model. as if it was born with it. incidentally, i recommend a b&m shifter. they make an awesome ratchet type called the Quicksilver at a really reasonable price. I see them on sell e-bay for as little as $20.00
