Question for the engine builders. What are you using to install pistons into the block? Old school band clamp, plier style, tapered? Sources? Thanks

Ring compressor band clamp is what I use.

I like the tapered aluminum type the best. You can get one that is about 3.5 inches but adjustable over a range that covers most slant 6 bore sizes. Powerhouse or any place that sells engine building tools should have one.

Band style. If it was good enough for my Dad it's good enough for me.

Actually a taper style is easiest.

I actually use my grandfather's version he left me...funny how it was used to rebuild big blocks, now is only doing small bore tilt blocks...

Here is one from Summit I am ordering. 3.4" - 3.550 should cover all of our engines.

That's nice. They really do speed up assembly.

Thanks Guys. For years I have used the band type, but I am getting too old to fight it anymore. I used a tapered one on a couple of 340's I built and it worked good. I need one now for this little motor on the stand. Rick I saw that one at summit also and it looks good and cheap enough. Anyone used the snap-on plier type?
