Been piecing back together my sisters 63 valiant with great help from Rick Covalt, huge thanks, anyways when she got the car it would run but stall out when approaching a stop light or going to neutral to slow down etc. Yet would idle all day.

Looking at the carburetor that had wire rigging up the choke and leaking from the bowl with obvious signs of being opened up numerous times I decided not to rebuild it, instead ordered a reman from classic industries. Which by the way, bowl leaked from them over tightning it and upon removal of the bowl found a screw missing and a lock clip just sitting on the bottom of the carb. Quality rebuild for sure. I also swapped it over to electronic ignition, new plugs, wires, fuel filter intake/exhaust gasket and a used exhaust manifold from Rick, he is also sending me the intake.

Now, with everything done it won't start. Its getting fuel and fire, I rough set the timing from tdc. After fighting it I decided to try the starting fluid for the hell of it as the po mentioned he needed it sometimes to restart, sure enough a quick squirt and it starts right up, shut it off and it will not restart on its own. I hate using starting fluid as I just don't think it's good for the motor. It does have an exhaust leak where the intake and exhaust manifold meet due to rusted away surface and broken bolt but I don't think that should keep it from starting, and will be replaced from Rick when it arrives.

A little lost as what to do next. I am waiting on an electric choke conversion to arrive as well but not expecting that to remedy the issue.

Thanks for any advice.
