When I first got my Duster I was picking up random things. I bought the hood insulation and clips and I never put it on I was just wondering if any body has it on their daily driver and if it's good or bad for the car. And I did buy it to cover up the bad looking middle of the hood.

We have 74 & 75 Darts, daily drivers, and a 73 Dart Sport. My sense is that the hood blanket really takes away some of the engine & road noise, makes the car sound less "tinny", more "substantial". When we get a new project Dart into the family, I always try to keep / install the blanket. The one drawback for me is that they are a consumable item- they wear out due to vibration & airflow, especially at the clips. My poor-man's fix for that is to make 1.5" plastic washers using a hole saw & any plastic sheet, like a cheap 3-ring binder cover, busted plastic garbage can, or whatever I have lying around. I put them between the clips and the blanket for added surface contact. Paint the washers black if you want. Also the blankets tend to capture and hold lots of dirt (and if you have leaks- oil & antifreeze), and there is no way to clean them that I've found without destroying them. I'm curious- the blankets are 3-D molded to the structure pattern of the hood. Where did you find them available new? I wouldn't mind buying at least one new one. My $0.02. P.
