My Offy valve covers do not have provisions for baffles, has anyone made an oil shield/baffle that uses the rocker shaft bolts as a mounting point? I have been thinking about making one to solve this little issue that I have been having. I drive this truck everyday so it will never be as clean as when I first installed the engine but the cheap chrome Chinese ebay cover was better than this one...



Is a breather really necessary?......... some of the old .commers will get it...

Needs a PCV valve and the hose to the carb this will help with crankcase pressure.

Damn, I was afraid of that!!! I will box it up and get it shipped asap

Fixed the problem. Went to the Monroe swapmeet and picked up an original pair of Stelling breathers for $150.



Made new gaskets...



Checked the adjustment on the valves while the cover was off. It is a force of habit to check them everytime I have the cover off.



Dropped on the other cover that has a pair of Stellings installed back in the 60's just to check for any interference.





Laid out the holes and started drilling.





Felt lazy so I just pulled the baffles out of the other cover. I will make a better pair for both covers later. I am thinking that I will make a pair the same but with a boxed in top lip to keep any oil from running down into the holes so the breathers don't eventually fill up with oil.



Done.






Next up is to clean up all the wireing in the engine bay and re paint it.

Those Stelling's are cool. I did like Dartman, cut a hole, fabricated a rear stack for PCV, then tig welded baffles into my offy.

BTW, I've done this twice. The one I showed in the pic only has a rear baffle, nothing in the front stand pipe (I can look down and see my rocker arms). I don't have any leakage oil problems. Perhaps you aren't getting enough crankcase ventilation? Make sure you do, it is very important.
