We have had a few emails from people asking for updates on our early 170/225 headers, As it has been a while we have made some proto type headers sent them of to people in the US.. if any body knows the people who tested fitted them accept pleases let us know.. Robert purchased a set did his fit up and sent them on to Charlie.. Is Charlie still around ?

I've been looking at your gear for a while, wish it was more easily available up here in north america, it would be nice to have an alternative to Clifford or Offy but shipping costs on top of the higher prices makes them a little out of reach. i'll test for the e-body .... the long runner styles look interesting .... :)

OK. I did a trial fit on my 65 Valiant with a empty 170 block, and I was less then thrilled, so I have been waiting to check them on my 66 Valiant with a 225, just before pulling the engine to put in a 170.

First the header tubes, do not have a common flange (6 separate flanges). This makes it very hard to get all (intake and exhaust) ports to line up. The header tubes have round ports, and the ports in the head are rectangular (poor match).

On the 225 engine the front header will hit the tie rod in a left turn, with the suspension unloaded. Hits right where the pipes join the collector.
The rear header is totally messed up. The collector is solid against the trans, in the pan area, and the number six tube hits the torsion bar. It is impossible to line up the ports since the individual tubes/flanges are being pushed out of position.

I am not good with pictures, on the internet, but I will see if I can get a friend over to take some pics, and post them, before I switch engines.
When I get the 170 engine installed, I will do this again.

170 engine is in. Put headers on. Front pipes actually fit pretty good. It actually looks like more ground clearance the the original Cliffords. Vertical drop of the number two pipe is very close to the frame rail (can't put my finger in between. On my car I have a trans cooler line that runs along there and will have to be moved. I do have concerns, that the pipe might hit the rail, on some cars, due to manufacturing tolerances.

The rear pipes fit better then on the 225 installation. The header clears the trans (sits lower), pan/flange area. However the number 5 tube hits the torsion bar. Number six tube is very close.

One other issue, all intake manifolds have a nominal 1/2 thick flange. On these headers the flange is 3/8 thick with small round "tits" slightly less then 3/16 thick, welded to the flange. This actually make the triangle washer mounting area too thick.

I have taken pics of both installations, and will try to get them posted in the next few days. I need to get someone with a little computer literacy to help me.

I posted lots of pics over on FABO - I think they fit pretty good on my bone stock 225 '64 Valiant. The rear collector was very close to the transmission pan but did not touch.

I didn't see the issue with separate port flanges because the studs hold them in alignment.

I did think that the front collector hung a little low for a street car.
