I've stumbled across a few parts lately that I think I've done alright on.

#1 - The heat shield that goes under the carb. I found it at a local pull a part on a 1980 Dodge car. It's in pretty good shape for being 34 years old, it needs cleaned up.

#2 - A Carter 2 bbl carb that I found locally on craigslist. The guy was an old mopar guy, but not a slant six guy. He advertised the carb as a "super six" carb. He was only asking $50 for it and we ended up working out a trade for some chrome chevy parts that I'm not going to end up using anyhow. The carb is very clean and everything moves freely.

#3 - A set of wheels for my truck from a local pull a part.

What do you guys think?

2 out of 3 isn't bad. unfortunately, that is a 318 carb that will take a little effort to work on a slant six. Most importantly ou eed to fabricate the adapter for the choke to work correctly.

Nice score on that heat shield. Those are getting very hard to find. Any chance you could trace the outline onto a piece of paper and scan the diagram with measurements so others could duplicate the heat shield?

I second this and im sure others will also.
Graph paper might be good to trace it on.

While the choke will require some ingenuity to get working, that is my favorite BBD. It has fully adjustable step up rods, which means you can tailor the enrichment to your engine's needs. When I had that carb on my car with an 833 OD I got between 25 and 29 MPG all the time.

I am working on drawing a scaled down picture of the heat shield, with dimensions of course, on graph paper to share with you guys. It's a work in progress, I'm not ignoring the request lol!

As requested.... here's a drawing and measurements of the heat shield. I'm not an engineer, so try not to make fun lol.
