Hi, can't find an old thread dealing with this issue, please point me in that direction if this has already been covered.

1964 Dart 270 4 door, Portland OR area, need to place in medium storage at a relative's house under a car port (otherwise I've mostly stored this car in a garage).

I can return home and drive the car every 3-4 weeks. This does not count as really long term storage, but others may have longer term storage questions, that's why I titled the thread this way.

Since I can drive the beast every month or so, I presume there is nothing to do for storage other than detach the battery terminals, not even sure I need to do that.

Mostly I am looking for recommendations on a car cover. The car will be exposed to some weather and moisture from three sides even though it is under a car port. I presume I should still put some sort of cover over it (assuming it's completely dry when I cover it). Or is it better to leave it uncovered?

Any advice on brand / type of cover also appreciated.

Do not cover the car if it will get wet. Just don't. You will hold moisture on the body and the car will rot. Treat the fuel, change the oil. Protect the car from the sun if possible. That's about it.

I agree.....tarp the 3 sides so the carport becomes a garage.

I thought the same. I'll see if my Dad lets me put some siding on the carport a few feet down each side--I think that would protect from most of any direct rain that would blow in.

Heck maybe he'll let me close in the whole darn thing. It's actually what should have been done long ago.

You don't need to disconnect the battery if there isn't any parasitic loads (radio, clock.....)

Don't forget about the fuel. Some fuel can start going bad within a few weeks. I have herd its best to make sure the fuel tank is topped off. As far as a fuel stabilizer goes I haven't found one I think really works.
