Could I get some pictures of a dual dutra setup? The way mine is looking right now, the pipe is going to have to come up to get over the starter a little bit, and then wrap on around. Just wondering if this is correct, the only pics I can find are dutras w/ modified manifolds, and dutras with a y pipe.

Alright, I've got another question. Why, do both of the dutras pictured does the back pipe loop back forward before going down and back again? Why not just wrap on around the starter? Is this for starter removal, longevity, or something?

Guess it won't matter if your not using a Y... it's just to make the Y placement easier. Once I saw a setup like this... the front pipe went out of the manifold, came down by the steering box, then out back. The rear manifold went straight towards the driver side over the starter then came down to meet the first pipe. Not as elegant but saves the cost of the Y.

Are you trying to have two independent pipes and mufflers?

Yes, I'm going to be running true duals, I've been mocking it up today and I think I'll run the rear pipe down under the engine in front of the trans, and run the front straight back. I've been consulting with the local muffler dude and we are going to go around the starter, and with a crush bend headpipe it will give me more starter clearance.

Why true duals? Per others on here that have gone through both - there is no performance improvement. All you'll get is added weight and drone.

Use an X/H pipe to reduce the drone if you insist on it.

I know many recommend a single exhaust, I just wanted duals for a couple of reasons.
I've never really heard any sort of performance slant, single dual or otherwise. All the slants I know of are stock, so I'm curious as to what one sounds like with true duals. Being 18, the drone may be tolerable to me. If not I can always add a crossover later. The added weight, in my eyes, makes minimal difference as it is a street only car. I'm just wanting to see what duals are like

I know there is no need for it but I like a slant with true duals and the idle cranked down really low.

Just guess on this:

Rear header tubes navigate forward around starter allowing easy R&R of starter without disturbing headers. A mini starter would have a lot of room to reduce heat soak from hot exhaust gasses, I have not had any heat soak problems with standard stock starter.

Rear tube of front header runs forward a bit I suspect to better locate collector from starter to attach exhaust pipe or "Y" pipe allowing starter clearance.



Yes, that is an 02 sensor on the front three to aid in carburetor tuning.
