I want to clean my side window glass. The left hand side windowa are very hazy - I have used window cleaner, special polish for cleaning glass, metho, paint thinners, and 0000 grade steel wool - still no real improvement.

The car is a 62' Signet I bought from Albuquerque a few years ago and I am now thinking the haze is from the 'sand blasting' from the many years of driving in the New Mexico area.

Any ideas on how I can get rid of the haze - the windows on the right side are ok.

Thanks.

Have you tried anything like this? I used it on my windshield with excellent results!

Replacing the windshield would be great, but I haven't found a source for the rubber gasket.(for a 64' Dart)

I'd start with a buffer and some buffing compound and go from there. You can probably get new glass for a little under $100 so I wouldn't start buying tools and cleaners if you don't already have them yet.

For 77 Dodge/Plymouth van: Rockauto Part # DW00760N $117 plus shipping for NEW windshield

I have had to replace the windshield in my brother's 83 Dodge van five times (don't ask. I have replaced the transmission in this van seven times, too). The last two windshields I cheaped out and did it myself using replacement glass bought from junkyard vans. The lat windshield was a nearly new tinted replacement window I bought from the junkyard for $30. I spent a few hours working the old cracked windshield out and installing the new one. Fixed! $30, my labor, and a tube of butyl windshield sealant.

No rockauto part # for a 62 Valiant, though. I think the used or NOS market is your only hope for those. Check with arizona auto parts ( http://arizonaparts.com ), wildcat ( www.wildcatmopars.com ), and other NOS parts dealers (Old Car Parts Northwest http://oldcarpartsnw.com/contact.aspx ).

For flat glass try your local glas shop. They may be able to cut you a new flat piece for fairly cheap. I had to get a replacement piece of glass for one of the huge aftermarket windows in my conversion van. The glass was N/A from the manufacturer of the window, but a local glass shop was able to make me a piece custom and even tint it to match the rest of the windows.
