I just bought a '74 Swinger that came with some "new" E-tron brand spark plug wires in the trunk. The box says they fit the 225ci engine from 1972-1983 except 1974. My question is what could be different about 1974 compared to the years before and after?

Do they have round 'caps' at the top of the plug boots?

I think what both responders are saying is the difference is the rubber caps that would keep stuff out of the area around the plug. 5 of my old wires have those but these new ones do not. So what was different about 1974?

I'd not use these off-brand wires unless I were in a desperate situation (vehicle off the road, need any functional wire to get the car going). Plug wires aren't necessarily on my list of "buy the best I possibly can" -- that list is tires, brakes, eyeglasses, and shoes -- but plug wires are on my "I'd rather buy better quality and not have to think about them again for a long time" list.
