Cool! You mean someone is going to inspect that thing and you expect it to pass? Iowa is awesome...

Yes, a DOT official is going to inspect it. He also checks over my paperwork to ensure I haven't built it with stolen parts, and tallies up my receipts so the Iowa revenue folks can get thier 5%. He also checks to make sure I've installed all required equipment for a "specialty-built vehicle", which is what a kit car is considered here.

I understand your reservations, Lou. It doesn't look like much right now. The plan is to drive it next season, and work the "new build bugs" out of it. Next winter, it'll get torn apart, cleaned up, painted and reassembled. Might even decide to make a few changes as well.

And YES!....there's an Iowa VIN stamped into the frame rail as of about 10:30 am Monday. I'll go down to the local DMV office in about a week & a half, pay them thier bucks, and walk out with a title, registration, and plates. At that point, I can go out and terrorize the neighborhood, while freezing my......ears off. (Damn hot-rodders, anyway. )

Roger

I have no problem with what you or Iowa are doing. So few people do this and drive their cars very seldom, so the risks are minimal.

Cool.

Lou

Doubtful, but one doesn't know what the future holds in store. You got a BMW Isetta 300 laying around doing nothing?
