Woopie! Finally got a truck the cylinder head can go in to! 1982 Dodge W150 4WD short bed. Gotta get crackin' as it has a massive valve cover leak - along with oil leaks everywhere. It has been christened the E. Valdez. Currently has the 1bbl and electro-welded aluminum manifold and a rebuilt 1bbl that runs rich. The exhaust is cracked and the whole system is falling apart, so it would be great to pull it all off and install the new headers and Offy manifold. Unfortunately it has the low starter mounting so the Hooker Headers will need to be modified to fit.

Can anybody recommend a really good polish?

Head is back from the machine shop. More details to follow. Had the following done: Tank it for cleaning. All new bronze valve guides installed. Head cut for larger valves, multi-angle valve job. Flycut .065 off cylinder head. Install new valve seals. They then painted it with some sort of sliver paint on the head exterior. Total cost including parts they provided: bronze valve guides, valve seals and all that labor was $281.04 after tax.

I'm a happy camper. Won't go on until the early Spring as it will be done as part of a conversion to mechanical cam & the dual Carter/weber 2bbl setup. For now the only mod on the engine will be the HEI ignition, the short exhaust run (exits in front of left rear tire - almost done, pipe in, just waiting on muffler) and a offy 4bbl manifold with either the 8007 or the Carter AFB.

1930- does this look better? ;-) Yes, I knew about newer grill - my guess it just cracked in to pieces here in the NM sun. There's virtually zero body damage nor rust anywhere. All rubber bits are beyond dried out and are so brittle they disintegrate. Image

Is that the same truck painted? It looks good but I have to admit I liked the color combo that you showed in the original pictures.

I do like yellow but I really like the original look.

Do you know if that stripe was original to the vehicle?

Someone must have changed out the core support, unless I am mistaken the later style grille H/Lamp assy will not just bolt into the old style support without some major hacking.....I mean modifying :)

Nice looking truck either way, Id be proud. Im glad you are staying with the slant.

Mine is the N.P 435, cant remember if you mentioned the tranny in yours.

Yup, 4 speed with first the straight cut granny gear. It was originally sea spray green, then repainted sorta sea spray green and the stripes were added on top of that. I didn't mind the green, but with the paint as poor as it was ALL the paint had to come off and I had a bare metal shell so any color could be picked. It's hot and the sun bakes paint out here in New Mexico. Painter suggested cream or white. So I looked at the color charts and picked something BRIGHT! :D
