Try some carbon-metallic. I did the ceramic thing on my Dakota R/T. Unimpressed.

I would try for the softest compound. Probably the carbon fiber. Semi-metallic seem to give too hard of a pedal on the early brakes.

I have all the D/S suspension stuff replaced to match the P/S now. All the frame and cross members have been "cleaned" and painted. One last thing to do was the remove the front cross member which was damaged in the accident. I just want to say that this is the last one I will take out! It has 4 large rivets on each side. I ground off the heads and 3 on each side popped right out. Number 4 on each side was not only riveted into place but appeared to me to have been electrically welded to both the frame and the cross member. It was a bear getting them out. But I prevailed and the new cross member slid right into place and got 8 new grade 8 bolts in place of the rivets.

New Carbon fiber brake pads arrived and hopefully by Tuesday I can have the front wheels setting back on the ground. Then I plan to clean up the firewall and give it a new coat of gray paint, as well as the replacement radiator support. Then on to the re-assmbly of the fenders, hood...etc.

I picked up the cylinder head from the shop this morning. Engine builder valves and springs and planed .060

Wheels are on, so now it looks cool!

I always grind off the large lugs at the front and back of the block as well as the small rib beside it. With the extra thick intake gaskets that I got from Jim Cox, they can get hung up on the lugs and create a large leak on both the intake and exhaust side. Ask me how I know!

That also looks like you have a block heater in the front freeze plug. I'd prefer that type over the external circulating. IMHO.

Nice to see yet another slant truck coming to life. I'm hoping to get the 904 swapped in mine before I make the trip to VA in Feb but either way I'll try to take a weekend and come visit if Incan. May even get a chance to help wrench.

Yes, it has a block heater that was in the engine when I got it. I decided to leave it alone and not remove it.

You should try and make your trip the weekend of the banquet and stop by Pigeon Forge and meet everyone.

I got the head on and torqued down and I have the cam all set to race mode! It was at 113 degrees just lining up the dots.It was ground for 106 degrees. So I drilled the timing gear and installed an offset bushing and it came in at 103, 3 degrees advanced. I put some lock tight on the threads and tightened the cam bolt.

Scuffed up the Hooker Super Comp headers and gave them another coat of VHT high temp ceramic paint. I think I made lots of progress in the last couple days.

Rick
