The crank "pin" is 2.187 in standard from. undersize of .010, .020 and .030 are common but I have also seen .040 and .060 undersize bearing inserts.
This applies to 170, 198 & 225 Slants

a 1980 crank will be cast. 198 rods were for forged crankes. Cast & forged cranks have different rod journal widths.

The good news is that the forged con rod is wider.
With some special machine work, 198 rods could be machined to fit on the cast crank. (for less money and fuss you could find a forged crank SL6 to build)

I decided to dig up this old thread and ask the original question again since I can't find the answer. What is the big end width of a cast crank 225 connecting rod?
