Hello, I just to a 1982 Dodge D150 with a Slant 6 standard. It has sat for about 13 years so know I got some work still it’s driving. I am in Texas so luckily no rust to see. I want to get some ideas about where to start. I have been doing some reading and see that it’s good to go to HEI. Found this link dodgetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=333121 . Is there anything else that is good to get. I would also like any recommendations of brands of parts and number if you have it for things like spark plugs, wires, dis cap and so on. I have also read that the blue streak dis cap is the one to get but does anyone know the number is for that year? Also where is the best place to get a full gasket kit for it and the number for it?

thanks for yalls time.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with either one. I'd get a Factory Shop Manual. I did for my 87 slant equipped D100 and it's got so much more info including troubleshooting various components.

I would get the Bishko shop manual over a Haynes or Chilton.

Welcome to the Forum! Most of your questions can be answered with the "search" feature above. (it takes some getting used to!)
Buy the Factory Service Manual. They sell them on eBay in hard-copy and disc. (Well worth the money!)

Is there a real difference in the spark plug wires? I read that is good to get the magnecor. Magnecor has 6022 for my yeah but see a lot of people using the 6008. If I get the HEI put in and use a 410 distributor cap what is the right set to get?

You get what you pay for. Magnecor makes some of the finest wires available. They could outlast you. :D

I just went HEI and I am going to get the thickest cables I can find. The insulation breaks down slowly over time, leading to arcing and crossfiring. The more insulation the better.

Edit:
I ended up with Magnecor 6522 for my 1980 truck.

If necessary, Magnecor will also fit your wires with any special coil connector, free of charge. Superb wires!
