Hey guys,

I've heard that you have to use headers with a Clifford Intake manifold. Is this due to the lack of heat riser provision? Or is the intake runners fatter, taking up room?

Basically what I'm getting at is, can I run a Clifford Intake with dual dutra duals?

Yes you can, I do. Two dutra castings will work. A single dutra up front and modified stock in rear will not.

The clifford has no provisions for those three bolts tieing the intake to exhaust. Also the clifford has a water passage underneath that sticks out an inch or so stretching front to back. Infact I had to grind that passage and/or part of the dutra pipe flange to make it fit without interference.

You dont have too.


Cliffords have no exhaust heat provision.

I have used clifford intakes with Mopar Performance headers. (massaging on #6 Runner Required), and Hooker super comps, and Dutra duals.

They are fatter then stock or offenhasuer Manifolds with a slightly different runner path,

The clifford manifolds probably work well together as a matched set without much fuss as they were designed to work that way, but others can work with some adjustments.

Many Cliffords intakes do not have this. I wish mine did!

Their earlier manifolds (without the -wh at end of part number) didn't have them cast in. Their later and current manifold does.

This is for the 4bbl. I do remember someone bolting a hot water plenum to the bottom side. It may have been a custom drilled non -wh manifold or possibly not a 4bbl all together.

I had a Clifford heater that went between the carb adapter and carb. Not sure who ended up with it, probably someone on the board.

Clifford has had several variations of their 4 bbl ("normal") manifold. Biggest problem is having the same part number for all of them except the 4500WH which has the cast in water manifold on the bottom.
