As some of you know, I recently lost my (second) cam shaft drive gear to walk or something....moment of silence...

Anyhow, I was thinking if the internals are good, I'd install a new cam and lifters, button her back up for break in.

BUT, I'm having one of those "since I have the engine apart anyway..." moments. I've already got the peripherals, DD duals, double 2bbls, good exhaust flow. I'm changing the cam anyway, so I could go a bit more aggressive, but, as I understand, the head would need work to reap any benefits of the cam upgrade.

Who might I go to/ship to, to have larger valves put in my head, shave a bit more off maybe, porting and polishing work? Does anyone in the SF bay area do this, have time to do this for me? Are there particular machine shops you all use that do this work reliably for SL6's? I simply don't have time for the porting/polishing work, nor am I qualified to machine/install bigger valves.

Particular note, do people upgrade/modify the valve springs, rockers and/or pushrods when they do this typically, or are those typically not part of the picture, i.e. I could use stock ones that I have?

thanks all,

Brian

Hello Brian,

Yes Send it to:

Mike Jeffery
308-324-3576
43551 Road 749
Lexington NE 68850

Give him a call first to discuss your budget / goals etc. he doesn't do email or internet.

Also Doctor Dodge on this forum is closer to you... near silicon Valley - He may also be able to help..

I am sure there are other options.. These are the ones that come to mind.

Greg

I can provide a "street performance" cylinder head and a timing cover with a positive cam stop.
Send me a PM for details...
