So in the process of putting back together my slant six I went to put on the Oil Slinger **Edited after doing some site searching** that goes on under the time chain cover. Directing excess oil away from the seal and toward the chain/sprocket is my guess. The thing is tore up pretty bad not sure how it got this way but when I took it apart it wasn't pretty. See Pic below.

Can I clean this up and make it work or should I try and find another one? Any help would be great thanks!!!

Think of it this way, which is less hassle: Opening up the engine again to deal with the noise you really wish weren't being caused by that chewed-up oil slinger? Or spending thirteen bucks on a new one so you never have to worry about it?

Yeah, you DON'T want to re-use that one. Looks like someone forced it on with the key slot mis-aligned and the just degraded from there.
