Hello everyone interested in reading this. I am collecting all the parts needed to switch my stock 1963 valiant 170 3 speed manual on the column which is all stock, to 4 speed on the floor. So far I have 2 A 833 3 speed overdrive transmissions. One that is ready to go in and one for back up, parts, spare ect. An old Hurst shifter from the mid to late sixties that looks an awful lot like it is from an early A body. I have no bellhousing. But I may have access to a 4 speed one from a truck that is bolted to a slant six. It may or may not work from what ive been told. Point is that I really need one that will work. I have a large tail shaft trans. And a smaller tailshaft trans. The one that is ready to install is the smaller one. Anyway, once I have the bellhousing dilema figured out, I will need to modify drive shaft, and I will need shift rods and linkage. Then a floor hump for early A. I have got bucket seats and seatbelts from a 71 duster. I figured that at the time I am actually ready to do the swap, I will do some changes to the motor as well. Electronic ignition and carb. I have a stromberg 2 barrel, carter 2 barrel, edelbrock 4 barrel, holley 2 barrel and I just picked up a weber 2 barrel. I think im definately going to go with the weber. And I really just want to use an adapter to my original 1 barrel intake. Im not looking for performance. Just economy. Any thoughts or suggestions??? Anyone have a floor hump and/or bellhousing? Thanks

Depending on the year...you may have a couple of "no-go" options....

If it's a low mount starter, no-go.

You need the high mount starter bell from a 1975-1980 car, or 1975-1987 truck (clutch fork on 80's bellhousings in truck uses a ballstud mounting method which will not work with the 1975-1980 bells)...so make sure you get the bell and fork together....the IBR hole will be 5.125", anything else is a pass...
