Has anyone installed hooker headers on a slant 6?...looking for pros and cons..or any installation problems

Hey, I used Hookers with a four speed and manual steering in a 70 Duster. I had a early cast iron bell so we had to make our own Z bar. Mike Jefferies said they were a good choice for my combination, big cam & lots of head work.
They are very well made however the stock gasket didn't last the dyno runs, Mike sent me one that he made and it was a lot thicker and has lasted fine.
I used copper collector gaskets without any leaks. IMO the coating is well worth it, they run very cool and are not rusting inside stealing HP.

I did check out the dutra duals, but have opted for the headers(not sure why, maybe its the growl..) ..there is a place close to my work that does ceramic coating , pretty much most ceramic work in the GTA goes to this company, "apparently" better then what the header companies use.
I have a 73 Dart sport, manual steering, manual brakes, so room shouldn't be an issue.

Slanteast, did you go with duals all the way back?..and do you happen to recall pipe size, or use of an x-pipe or anything of that nature?

Hey, I used 2.5'' into a Y into one 3''. I then used an electric cut out with a Flowmaster muffler and a TTI 3' tailpipe. It sounds like a muscle car, maybe too loud for some. I am using it for street and some drag strip fun.

I ran a set of competition hookers on my 67. I didn't like the thin head flange and using the little half moon washers on the mounting flanges. If they have changed that it would be a good thing. I could have welded the washers so they would not be loose but for that price I should not have to have done that!

pardon my lack of knowledge here..what is the purpose of the electric cutout? and is your exhaust pipe run up and over the rear axle, or out to the side?

Hey, I used a cutout in front of the muffler for drag strip passes. Is was a Quick Time from Summit. I used a copper gasket and it doesn't leak when closed, comes with a block off plate if you have trouble out on the road.
The 3'' TTI mandrel bent tailpipe comes out in the stock location.
I am more interested in performance than mileage, depending on what your goals are there are lots of folks here that can help with both. Read the posts and watch the videos, great resource here.
