I think it would be better to convert to HEI. The truck does not have the Chrysler ignition module. That explains why there is no spark :(

On my 86 the computer is mounted under the fender behind the battery.
Here is how i did the HEI conversion on mine.

The control module is under the fender too. I have the FSM and it shows the control module near the brake vacuum booster, about where I have some loose connectors that I now don't know what those are for. I have power to the coil, but there is no spark.

I'm still going to do the HEI conversion.

Can you post pictures of the loose connectors?
Is the control module look similar to this? http://1drv.ms/1J7N8fP
Remember mines had computer guts removed and heat sink and HEI installed in it's place
Are the connectors shaped like the one's that are on page D10 outlined in a red dotted line?
Scroll to the bottom of the document. http://1drv.ms/1GPCzRf

I fixed a loose connection that goes to the distributor. When I hit the ignition key I didn't hear the motor crank, it fired immediately and is running smoothly. I did not choke the carb. This is the first time that I had heard this motor running.

The motor has a leak in the exhaust manifold, the truck had set up for about two years.

I will get around to the HEI conversion...
