I have an aftermarket radio and it doesn't keep my settings in whenever I turn it off can someone tell me how to wire the radio so that it remembers settings

You need to wire it to an unswitched lead (with a fuse, of course). You can use a test light to find a fuse that has power with the key off or you can run a line directly to the (+) battery terminal.

I believe there is a tickler circuit that you can wire in to keep the radios settings. Car Toys may know of it.

on the d-100 there is no constant on link. you need to run a wire to the starter solenoid or the battery positive.

And be damn sure to turn off the radio after engine shut-down or you will have a dead battery the next morning.

Having said that, when I installed XM radio in Mrs. wjajr's Nitro there was some sort of relay that connected to power supply of truck plugging in series with the equipment, and when engine was turned off it automatically killed the XM device, but allowed power to bypass to keep settings. I suspect one could find some sort of a universal device at an automotive sound store.

You can wire a radio to where the memory is getting constant power from the battery while the main system is powered by a switched fuse.

Correct. I generally use the factory radio feed fire (usually orange or red) for the main power supply to the radio and find an unstitched feed in the fusebox for the memory. I believe the interior courtesy light circuit is a constant unswitched feed, even in the D series pickups.
