I'm looking for the correct shifter rod linkage for the 64-66 A Body four speed. I have the wrong linkage set and that was part of my confusion that led to my previous post.

I found a set at Brewer, but it was for later A body. Is that the way to go?

Cheers,
Barnaby

They should work. They mount up in the same place and the transmissions didn't change. The shifter mounts behind the cross member, forward gears go over and reverse goes under. the levers point up.

You just need the right linkage for the correct shifter. The early shifters were from Hurst. The later ones could be from Inland or Hurst.

Thanks Kestab! It is the Hurst shifter, and I will order the kit from Brewer when I have the funds. I had to fabricate the reverse and the 1-2 rod from scraps. Drives fine, but it is a pain in the neck finding reverse...

Sounds more like the linkage isn't adjusted correctly adjusted. There is a hole on the bottom of the shifter right above the levers. Take the rods off the levers and slip a nail thru the hole. This will align the levers. Now adjust the rods to fit the levers. This should all be done with the transmission in netural. Your linkage is now aligned and should shift into reverse correctly.
