Ok so I just got my car running again after 5 months. I don't have a tachometer so I don't know what rpm its idleing at but its seems about 1000rpm. When I try to give it gas 2 things happens. The engine dies almost like it just boggs down and falls out flat on its face and the second thing is it makes a very distinct air noise from inside the carburetor almost like its blowing air out of it. Its a single barrel carb from autoline or something not the stock carb but its the one that came with the car when I bought it. It used to run just fine but I swapped out the divorced choke for a manual choke, not sure if that would make any huge difference or not. I haven't done any real work to the engine itself its just a bone stock 225 but I did just finish redoing all the electrical stuff. Replaced the alternator for a 1 wire alt, replaced the starter for a mini high torque starter, replaced the battery for an AGM 12v, made my own wire harness and switch panel ect but I have all that wired up right and like I said I can get the car to start and run at idle it just doesn't like the throttle much lol also falls out when I try to put it in gear.

Any ideas what my problem is?

Are you closing your choke enough when the engine is cold? Are you opening the choke before the engine is fully warmed up?

yeah when the engine is cold i make sure to have the choke as closed as the choke vacuum diaphram allows it to be.

When the motor first starts and the engine is cold, the vacuum choke pull off is supposed to open the choke ROUGHLY 1/4 inch. So with the motor cold and running, the choke should only be open about 1/4 inch. Try putting it there with the choke off and then marking the choke control inside the vehicle or putting a limiter of some sort on the choke control inside the vehicle so you know where it is supposed to be when the engine is cold.

yeah that seems about right. Seems about how much the choke vacuum opens it. Still doesn't explain the loud windy air sounds coming out of the carb barrel.

Sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere.

Look for a vacuum leak, particularly at base of carburetor.

Could also be a deficient accelerator pump shot unable to bridge temporary lean condition when throttle is opened.

With engine off remove air cleaner, look down into carb and rotate the throttle see if there is a good strong shot of fuel delivered from accelerator pump.

If you find accelerator pump is the problem, it's time for a carburetor rebuild.
