I forgot to put my thermostat in, had to pull the water neck and redo...I've done that at least twice in my life...you'd think I'd remember that, but nooo...

I installed my slant's thermostat backwards twice in less than an hour, than awarded my self the "dumb ass" award shortly after turning the damn thing correct way around on the third try...

I don't recall this sort of stuff occurring before AARP started sending their unsolicited member ship cards every sixty days.

I remember which way it goes (if I remember to put it in at all) by recalling how it works, The brass plug is the thermal mass that absorbs heat to help the spring actuate. The thermal mass (spring end) goes toward the block.

I never forgot how it went, except in the fog of war, full steam ahead, rushing to reassemble the heap, my atrophied walnut sized brain now pea size thought it prudent to nestle the stat into the hose housing while in hand, bend over and slap it on; key being it was inserted into an orifice any orifice any orifice at all seemed appropriate at the moment.

Than stand there watching hoses strain under pressure, and thinking why the hell won't that damn thermostat open, it's in the head...

Worst part was no adult beverages had been ingested, just one massive old fart's brain fart. :~)
