Here's a pic of the shortened arm and pivot, with bronze bushing and screw collar.



I was able to make a new arm for the choke coil and connect it to the same arm as the front carb.



The long rod to the carb was set up to have the same angle as if the choke coil was installed in a stock configuration, but the rod from the choke coil ended up being a bit lower than it should be. The setup can get stuck and flip around to the top side of the slot in the coil. A slightly longer rod would keep this from happening so I may do that next time.

And it works. The only issue is how to secure the 3 rods to the arms on the torque shaft. The bar I used is too thick for the standard choke rod clips- those one with two little clips and two holes to capture the rod and attachment point. Since I changed the side the rod attaches from at the carb to avoid interference issues, those clips don't work there either.

So I used some brass wire to hold it all together. That worked fine, but eventually it bent a bit and came loose, or bound up and the whole setup stopped working. I'm most of the way there, and it was a good project.

dpstark; Go to your local hobby store, (if there is one), and look for some set-screw type locking collars. They're usually in with the R/C airplane landing gear hardware. Small sizes that just might be exactly what you need to retain those rods on the torque rod linkage.

Casually looking for a Clifford hyperpak intake for cheap.

Good call- hadn't thought of a hobby store. I found some 1/8" collars online, but they look pretty heavy and the whole deal is carefully balanced right now. The choke doesn't have a lot of force behind it.

There's a long weekend coming, so hopefully I can find time to finish it up and then spend more time driving it!

I ended up using some 1/8" push nuts in order to secure the rods.



The whole setup seems to be working really well. I got the tension set well enough to pull off the choke at a reasonable rate. Hopefully it stands the test of time.
