Hi to all the slanter out there, I came very close to quitting on the slant 6. ( ran across a lemon)... I found one on craigslist for $200.00.. runs great!!

So I am happy to say,, "I am Back!!"..

I need help trying to ID the engine. It was pulled from a 1969 Satellite but the engine does not have the spark-plug tubes that would go with that year.

This is the serial # I found by the #1 spark plug..
002 R 1029 E....

Can someone please help??

Thank you,,
I feel great again!!

Are the spark plugs 5/8 sized without the drool tubes?

Not dispositive for IDing the engine. Cylinder heads are a bolt-on swap.

002: ??? Could be an improper or incomplete stamping, or could be a different number system than was used for US/Canada engines. Are you 100% certain that's what it says?

R: Passenger car engine

1029: Engine built on October 29th

E: Cast crankshaft

One possible interpretation of this is that it is a 1982-model engine built on October 29th, 1981.

What number is cast into the other side of the block (under the manifolds)?

An 8-digit number like that on the manifold side is usually found on late-model engines, but I can't place that number specifically. I'm sticking with my 1982 guess.
