The wire for the electric assist has broken off.

That particular choke thermostat was never equipped with a wire or a heater element. It's an export-spec unit that would work OK without need of (or provision for) a choke modulator. And the price is very hard to beat! However, like the electric-assist units, it is non-adjustable. For an adjustable one, use the #1232 Electric choke kit.

Huh. I saw the nipple on the casing and assumed that, like so many of the stock ones, the wire had broken off at some point. Learn something new every day!

I agree with Dan about the electric choke kit though. I wouldn't even bother with the factory choke thermostat.

I had the 1bbl version of that export choke stat on my '73 Dart for awhile, just because I found one and decided to try it. It worked OK, not perfectly, would've worked better if I could have adjusted it! They just used the same housing (with wire ferrule) no matter whether a particular thermostat did or didn't have a heater on it.

Still, tough to pass up for $4.99 unless the shipping is super expensive (I didn't look)

I see $29.99 as the purchase price and $4.99 for shipping. :?:
