Just bought my 65 Valiant 225 with a 727 TorqueFlite automatic. I'm having issues with the parking lock mechanism. It was disconnected at the column and wasn't locking in park, when I reattached the cable on the column it locked in park but now it won't unlock when I shift out of park. I saw an adjustment diagram online but I wanted to see if you guys have any experience with this issue and where I might be able to find a parking lock cable if this one is broken. I've searched the web and can't seem to find anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome. It's a 904, not a 727.

That's a fairly complex mechanism. You really(!) need the factory service manual; see this thread.

Pat Blais "Torqueflite Patty" can usually help, but seems to be on vacation at the moment (eBay store closed). Someone on here might have a good used cable and/or other parts you may need.

I can almost guarantee that's why the previous owner disconnected it. ;) It might even by why s/he sold the car.

We see it in the electrical world, also... a blown fuse is sometimes just a blown fuse, but more often than not, it blew for a reason.

Always be suspicious that when stuff has been disconnected intentionally, a simple reconnect won't fix it...

Kudos to you for trying to do a better job.
