Have everything ready to change my 64 over to KH disc brakes. Donor brakes came from 68 Barracuda. Since I need to change the Lower Ball Joint to 9/16" from the original 1/2" my question is can I just redrill the hole to 9/16" or is the hole tapered for the LBJ and more complicated to drill?....Thanks.....Kevin

I would purchase new correct lower ball joint that fits larger beefier disk brake steering knuckle. The two bolts and casting of ball joint take all the vertical forces front wheel encounters, and weakening ball joint casting by enlarging those two bolt holes can lead to big trouble.

I have the larger ball joint, my question is the hole the ball joint goes into is 1/2" and the ball joint is 9/16" so, to drill the hole from 1/2" to 9/16" to fit the larger ball joint into, is the hole tapered or can just I drill the hole to 9/16"?

Something isn't right. The '66-'72 disc brake cars use a unique lower ball joint that does not apply to any other brake system. The ball joint bolts directly to the spindle, no drilling required.

Did you get the Kelsey-Hayes disc brake spindles? If so I think you have the wrong ball joints. Can you upload pictures to photobucket or other site and give us links so we can see what you're working with?
