Today I installed a new column turn signal harness courtesy of Dan. Actually my boy did the take down while I was preoccupied with the front grill installation. Basically I have pulled the new harness through the steering column but am having trouble mating the components back together.

this is a 3spd manual column shift arrangement on a 66 dart. I have the manufacturer manual but it does not cover this. The "ring" that houses the shift lever does not mate to the ring that houses the turn signal. I can get them within an inch of each other but it binds up at that point. I have arranged the shift levers to neutral at the bottom of the column but that does not seem to help..Elbow grease has not been a solution.. What am I missing here??
