Ok so I keep losing the dust cap on the passenger side of my truck and I dont know why. I have the original one on the drivers side and it hammers in fine without to much or to little effort. The last one I put on the passenger side was way to hard to put on and it only stayed on for two days before flying off..... Everywhere I check it says the size is 1-13/16". Ive checked the bearings and the rotor to see if it is marred or hitting the cap but it looks fine. Anyone ever have a problem like this? And how would I go about fixing it?

I've had trouble with aftermarket dust caps so I bought a few originals at Pick-N-Pull.

If you haven't already I would pull the hub off the spindle and make sure the bearings are good and that the races haven't spun in the hub. I've had both problems personally.

Are your caps the same size? (1-13/16) I replaced the bearings last year with new races but im temped to replace them again. Mainly because I have been driveing it without the cap and fear dirt has gotten in it.

I gave away my spare caps as I don't have anything they fit.

If the races have spun in the hub they will eventually eat up the hub. The only economical thing to do that works is to replace the hub.
