So I dont know what is happening but today I went to every auto part store in Chehalis and Centralia and no one can order a Remflex gasket. One sales man at Napa said they were having problems getting them so they dropped them. I remember Rockauto carrying them so I checked there when I got home but they no longer have them as an option as well....... They are still there on the Remflex web sight so I might just order four of them directly. I just noticed that the #4 exhaust port is starting to leak so I want to get that fixed before fall hits.....

I ordered this gasket from Amazon. The first one came in broke and bent. The replacement they sent me was bent as well. They put paper in a long box, and shove the gasket into the paper, and it bends. They do not brace the gasket like the company does, with two pieces of cardboard on each side with rubber bands holding them onto the gasket. I ended up ordering one thru Ebay. Should get it tomorrow. Hopefully that performance shop does better than Amazon.

I agree, I would order from Remflex directly. Cost a bit more, but they really splint them well so they aren't kinked when they arrive.

I'm making copper race intake/exhaust gaskets with larger ports for ported heads now. I can also have these made in a composition material just like the Remflex as well if the demand and support will be there.

Even if they don't fold, just keep in mind there are other options for quality gaskets like these in the larger port variety. Where as the Remflex may not fit the ports well on ported heads.

Ok ive been busy hunting. I havent ever ordered anything off of Amazon yet but its good to know they are there. I do have a ported head on my truck and ran a Remflex gasket for over a year before it failed. Do you think the porting caused it to fail? Should I look at something else for a longer solution? Any info is helpful.

Nicademas: Oddly after running several years with a Remflex gasket on a ported head, the manifold nuts either backed off, or gasket compressed causing a vacuum leak & small exhaust leak. I caught this early on, and a retorqueing of nuts sealed the leaks.

I suspect that the heat cycling and related creep of metal (cast iron and aluminum) components on gasket caused additional crush of gasket resulting in leaking, and appearance of loosening of attachment nuts. Or this could be just stupid thinking on my part, and for whatever reason the damn thing just loosen up.

Perhaps anyone using this gasket should re-toque manifold every so often. I must have driven about 8000 to 10000 miles since installing said good gasket.

I actually do not like using Remflex on the intake to head gasket. I much prefer using Remflex for the exhaust pipe to manifold junction. The one time I have had experience with the manifold to head gasket was horrible. The gasket stuck to both surfaces and was ripped apart when the manifolds were removed. I spent about 20 minutes cleaning the old gasket off the mating surfaces before reinstalling a normal gasket.

I have never had a problem getting Felpro gaskets to seal at the head and if a copper or other material manifold to head gasket was available I think I would use that over a Remflex for oversize ports.

When I had head work done at Portland Engine Rebuilders, they machined the mating surfaces of the 2 manifolds and bolted them together, then machined the port/head surface. I torqued to 10, checked a week later, and ran for 7 years (3 of them daily) with no problems whatsoever.

Yes it was expensive at the time, but cheap in the long run. I think Remflex is a great product, and helps seal wavy mating surfaces.
