Can anyone (Dan, perhaps?) list any factory or dealer wheel options in '66? I'm looking for something that could possibly have been ordered with my '66 Dart that give a nice sporty look.

Bonus points if anyone has a supplier for such a wheel!

Per Standard catalog of American Cars 1946 - 1975:

Dart GT package had up grade full wheel hubcap over 270 and 170 Dart. Photo of GT shows a hubcap that looks the same as the ones on your car.

If you could get a copy of 1966 Dart sales brochure, that would show what was available for wheel treatments.

I had a buddy back in the day who owned a green 66 GT with the HI-PO 273 and 4 speed. His had 14" wheels with dog dish hub caps. I think that is what inspired my wheel choice.

Factory wheel options in '66 were:

13" × 4½" plain steel
14" × 4½" plain steel
14" × 5½" plain steel
14" × 5½" rallye

If you're confining yourself to wheels that could've come on your car when it was new, those are your options. The rallyes are available new.

I'm not totally locked into a perfect stock option. Since the selection is pretty limited I'm willing to branch out into other cars dodges of the same year. Although the rallyes are pretty cool, for some reason I didn't think they were available in '66.

Whoops, yeah, you're right, no Rallyes yet in '66 (though they look quite good on a '66).

The small (4") bolt circle is going to severely constrain your wheel options. If you change to large (4½") bolt circle, options open up.

Oops forgot to mention... I did swap to the larger 5x4.5" bolt pattern, specifically for a broader range of options.

Also, I've seen tons of pictures of '66 Chargers with what magnum 500 wheels, was that a dealer option by any chance?

Magnum 500 wheels were made by Motor Wheel Corporation and were in production in 1966. It's definitely something a dealer could have sold as an upgrade, if there was a small bolt pattern variant. It's also conceivable dealers might have sold a customer Cragar S/S, Ansen Sprint, or American Racing Torque-Thrust wheels, although note that the current production Torque-Thrusts aren't an exact match for the '60s design if you are being obsessive about such things.

Could be wrong, but I am just about certain there was no small-bolt version of the Magnum 500.

Cragar S/S mags, with a special centre emblem, were part of the 1965 Dodge Dart Charger package.

Seldom-seen user on here 440_Magnum put M-body cop car wheels on his '66 with period caps, and made this post which currently contains a broken photo link; that photo is here.

The '66 FPC does not list any fancy wheels—just plain ones. In '67 we start to see options for 14" × 5" and 14" × 6" whees described as "chrome plated". In '68 we get to see a picture of what is called out as a "chrome wheel—Belvedere & Coronet", and by all appearances (in the low-quality black-and-white image) it's a Magnum 500; also the parts listings begin to show options for wheels made by "Budd" and wheels made by "Motor Wheel", none of which have the same part number as any wheel listed in '67. In '69 everything looks the same in the FPC as in '68. In '70-'71 (same FPC, not called out by year) the Rallye wheel appears—this is the first listing of anything other than a plain steelie for the A-body—and we finally get to see a (low-resolution black-and-white) image of a "chrome wheel" that is not a Magnum 500.

Personally, I think slots, Cragars, Magnum 500s, cop rims, or Hurricane rims look best. Cop rims look very good with trim rings and the early 70s Rally centers.

Once again, I have upgraded to the LBP (5x4.5"). Wanted to mention it agin since I saw some discussion about the SBP and wasn't convinced everyone saw this mentioned.

Given the production start year given by Matt and the vague descriptions of a "chrome wheel" that may or may not be a Magnum 500 starting as early as '67, I think this is what I'm going to go with.

Anyone have experience with Wheel Vintiques? They make a reproduction Magnum 500 that is made in the USA and seem reasonably priced. If anyone has used these or has had good luck with another reproduction Magnum 500 wheel, I'm all ears!
