Ah, I see. Yes, if you are so inclined you could run furring strips longitudinally front front to back and affix hardboard or wood to those furring strips and upholstery and/or lights to the wood. Plus you can install insulation behind the wood. You loose a bit of headroom, but not much more than a standard headliner.
