Hello all,

So I am in the middle of rebuilding my motor and have been researching torque plates. I've noticed that the common thing to do is to cut the top off of another block and use it.

Unfortunately I do not have another block to do that too... What I do have though is 1/4" aluminum plates.

I think I already know the answer to my question but I wanted to confirm it. Is the 1/4" aluminum plate too thin to be used as a proper torque plate?

I believe the steel torque plates I have seen are @ 1-1 1/2" thick.

Aluminum won't torque the same as cast iron or steel, unless your using an aluminum head. And will yield the same result as not using a torque plate at all if you use a cast iron head.
