I was thinking about going for the dual exhaust route next year because i have to redo the exhaust as it's scraping the ground.

It has the stock exhaust manifold and a pipe goes under the engine and next to the transmission.. After that pipe it has a rusty straight flowing muffler that's scraping the ground because it's poorly attached and after that a a piece of a straight pipe and i then hooked up a super turbo muffler and a factory styled pipe that loops over the rear axle and out the back under the bumper..


Well i was thinking about attaching an Y pipe to the pipe that comes next to the transmission and adding two pipes that both have a super turbo muffler and they exit in front of the rear axle.

Anybody have done this setup? How does it sound like?

I want a mean sounding idle but not ear deafening sound when flooring it.
Can't afford dutras.

That's the exact reverse of mine, dual Dutra manifolds into a y pipe down to a single pipe. I don't know how it will sound because exhaust systems involve a lot of science and many variables. If you are looking for performance, a single exhaust can be made to deliver a lot of good airflow and can be better than dual exhaust if sized properly.

Not only is a single-into-duals setup pointless as far as exhaust flow, but it's also dangerous to dump the exhaust under the car. The exhaust system needs to run all the way to the back of the car or you run the very real risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

What Dan said. Seriously. Slight headache, fuzzy head for you and your passengers. Opening a side window slightly will draw the exhaust from the pipe outlet into the people area more, and exits out the side window. This INCREASES the concentration of carbon monoxide in the cabin. Lesson: the engineers know where on the vehicle the exhaust outlet should be located, exactly. Anything else is "experimental".
