is the cam going to be reproduced by an entity from which the general public may purchase a camshaft?
Yep! Pick up the phone, send in your core, wait a few days, and off y'go. That's the point of the project. :-)

Awesome! Once again, thanks for getting another slant related project off the ground, Dan!

Since I do not need to chip in the $10 for the master on the RV10-RDP - and a big thank you to the benefactor - count me in for $20 to start on the RV15-RDP when that one appears.

Reviving an old thread: I have a new-in-box Dutra/Erson RV10-RDP. For $110 plus two-way postage, the cam shop can make a master so that newly-ground RV10-RDPs can be bought at will just by picking up the phone, without having to reinvent the wheel (cam) ...
I was able to call Erson up approximately a month or so ago and had the option to buy either the rv10 or 15 with only a week-ish lead time. I believe it was $250 with lifters. How much will this cost per unit once the master is made?

$70ish, no lifters. Last I checked lifters are $2 to $5 apiece, so $24 to $60 a set, so still well shy of the $250 price from Erson.

WOW! $70 is a great price. I am definitely don for a camshaft (maybe two if the RV15 gets made).

WOW, This sounds no different then the Erson group buy the board had about a decade ago. My RV-15 is still in the closet waiting to get put in. I forget what I paid but got the cam, lifters , and springs for under $200.

RV-15 seems like a hot little item. I have a blank, but I'd like to see a cam/lifter/spring/ retainer combo...

Erson lists the RV-10, but not the 15?

Since you have a new RV-15 would you be willing to lend it out to be duplicated?

That's Erson's RV-10......

The RV-10 and RV-15 we're talking about here is a custom cam with the MP244 exhaust lobe and erson intake lobes with custom lobe centers and intake centerlines.

After you mentioned this, I looked at the specs and saw that they were completely different. Anyone know how their TQ20M stacks up against the DD grinds?

And what's in it for me if it get's damaged, dinged, lost, etc., and who's going to guarantee me that it won't? It's gotta be a lot more than a word!

That's what shipping insurance is for. But if you're not willing to contribute that's fine.

It may make more sense for me to take my old RV15M-RDP up to Ken to have the measurements taken.
1. I'm a lot closer.
2. I need to pull the cam back out of Bobby's engine for another modification to his block anyway.

I'll see if I can drum up an extra half hour to pull it this weekend.
Once Ken has the numbers, we'll send them to Doug to verify the cam is correct. Wouldn't be good to replicate errors that may be present with the original tooling setup. They happen.

It's not just shipping I'm worried about, it's what the knuckleheads at the plant do to it before returning it.
Oregon Cam Grinding has been doing work for this community for many years. They have locomotive diesel engine camshafts in the shop that cost more than probably 100 slant six cams. Knuckleheads they are not.

My expectation is that cam to be patterned will be taken from the box, put in the computerized measurement station to create the master and re-boxed.

You participating or not affects me much less than it would affect the larger community. Choose who you want to be.
