You are also missing the spring that goes between the throttle stud on the carb and the tp of the kickdown rod. The spring is supposed to keep the rod pulled up so the arm of the kickdown linkage with the bolt through it is pulled forward against the throttle stud on the carb. Hard to describe without a picture.

Yes the circled one. The kick down linkage should follow throttle all the time. Your kick down linkage is not moving until the pin on carb is hitting the nut and bolt. Just under that circle is a pivot arm pointing 90 degrees from vertical at curb idle it should be almost straight up. Some thing wrong at transmission, maybe wrong throttle lever.

The spring is circled in yellow. I found it after the pic.


Thats next. Figure out the shifting.

I'm not seeing a spring in the yellow circle. Upon closer inspection, it appears that someone reused the one-barrel kickdown rod and hoked it to the two barrel bracket and U clip that bolts to the exhaust manifold. That is fine and can be made to work. That is what I did on my 76 D100. The catch is that it puts the kickdown rod in a different position than does the Super Six kickdown rod and you have to make sure that the linkage is all adjusted properly.

If you squint, and look at the 7 o'clock position of the yellow circle the hook that I attached to the throttle stud is there. Ironically it seemed to shift from first to second ok but it would act like it was in neutral when accelerating in third. Upon inspection I found it low on fluid. Hopefully topping it off will cure that issue. It didn't smell burnt but wasn't enough on the stick to see the color.

Hey everybody me again, lol. Spent most of the day replacing engine mounts, power steering hose and trans service to fix a leaking trans pan. Basically it's drivable but theres more to be done such as exhaust leak, kickdown modification, choke modification and carb tuning. I was checking ports for vacuum and got zero reading on this port where the distributor is hooked up:



Also no vacuum here:





The hose next to it has vacuum going to the diaphragm.

And heres a photo of the spring from the last discussion:



Why is there no vacuum where the dist is plugged into and what should be plugged into where the orange hose is with the bolt crammed in it?

FYI- I can't recall if it was mentioned elsewhere, but that is a V-8 choke linkage piece.
