This is an advertisement for putting your town or zip code on your profile.

This fellow might be some ones neighbor with an orange box (or 3) laying in their garage. We all want to help our brother in slants.

It's also an advertisement for H.E.I. ignition. Sadly, I've eliminated any helpful Mopar ignition parts from my garage.

Took a chance and bought another module. The thing won't start and ive been following wire diagrams and under the dash and no luck finding anything wrong. Hooked it up, pump the gas, starts IMMEDIATELY. I still have a small intermittent misfire while in park, but it has to be that my timing is a hair too advanced.

What a piece of junk from NAPA! Lasted an entire two weeks before failing. Even tested 'good' at their testing thing. I'm not taking another chance this time....going with HEI or finding a halfway decent Mopar module just for the time being.

I'm having some similar troubles and I suspect it's the module even though the one on it was replaced recently. It's still shiny. Truck starts and runs fine in park or neutral. Revs fine. In drive it feels like it's missing and sputters and struggles and I can't reach 25mph on level ground. I understand that with this part you should it two at a time because it's likely that one of them won't work out of the box. You'll have to excuse my ignorance but there is a ballast resistor on the fender that looks as old as the truck. But I'm not the original owner and it has an electric ignition not old points and condensers. Is the ballast resistor still used with electric ignition?

It has new plugs, wires, distributor and rotor. I don't know about the coil but it looks fairly clean.

Hey, I said forgive my ignorance! Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not an engineer! Well actually I'm an ER nurse not a mechanic but you catch my meaning. If I knew it all I wouldn't need these forums.

I replaced the module, ballast resistor, and coil. I also replaced ( but bot related to the problem ) the pcv valve and the crankcase air breather. It did not fix the issue. I used my skills of deduction to narrow it down to a fuel issue. I'm going to start with the fuel filter. Pump is good and replaced new fairly recently. If it's not a clogged filter then I'm hauling in to the mechanic to look at the carb.

I've done some more research and I found that the accelerator pump has the same symptoms when it is failing. Still going to try the fuel filter first because the accelerator pump seems daunting. I'm really more of an operator level maintenance guy. Like oil changes, spark plugs, brakes, fluids, that sort of stuff. I can replace bolt on parts but when it comes to adjustments and "tuning" something like a carb I think I should pay a pro to help me out.
