 Post subject: Oil pump removal

So i pull everything off to do a cam swap and last thing i need to take off is the oil pump. Its a 68 valiant, can i take it out in car? Or will i have to pull the motor? Thanks[/img]

It's easier to pull it with the motor out of the car...

In the car, you will need to unbolt the motor mounts, exhaust, tranny lines/linkage so you don't kink something and jack the block up and move it a bit toward the driver's side and you will have enough room to pull the pump if it's a stocker... if it's a newer pump with the fatter rotor and body, you may have to take the cover off and just have enough room to do it... it get's worse if it's one of the HP pumps....


I think I wrote a step by step procedure on it at one time for the board, having just done it on my '67 Signet at the time....

I removed one from a 79 Volare by just jacking up the motor. When I pulled the oil pump off my 65 Belvedere, I had to jack up the engine and remove the passenger side engine mount.
