I have some cool vintage gauges I want to mount in my truck. I have an old tach and an old vacuum gauge that are in nice heavy chrome housings, but I can't find a good spot to mount them. Right now I am thinking of buildin an adapter to mount them on the lefthand windshield frame/a pillar.

Where have other people managed to mount aftermarket gauges in their 70s era D series trucks?

Depending on the size of the gauge there is a cutout/knock oit on the left side of the cluster that is visible from the back. That is where I put the tach in my D100.

The nonworking factory clock is there, and I want to be able to see the cool chrome pods. So far, the a pillar looks like the best option.

on rockauto there is a gauge pillar for the D series trucks but I dont know if they are a "universal" fit or "direct" fit. I got lucky and found an uncut gauge bezel and found that you can fit two 2-1/16" gauges side by side on each corner. You may want to do this as you could keep your clock where it is and put two gauges on the other side. I got my A/F gauge and tach on the right with plans on putting aftermarket temp and oil pressure on the left.
